Today … I turn 30. The BIG 3-0. I have been asked {quite a bit} leading up to today how I feel about turning 30 and you know what .. I am perfectly fine with it. After thinking about it I am happy with what I’ve been through in my 20’s and what I have accomplished at the age of 30.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
In my 20’s I had a few different types of jobs {all of which I enjoyed}. From working with a landscape architect to merchant services and bar-tending all along the way.
Side Note: Having bar tending skills means you will ALWAYS have a job
{I’ve also learned not to fry myself at the beach and to get the hair out of my eyes!}
{I’ve actually earned the designation Certified Payment Professional}
{Now I design websites and print design for SDE-Tech}
Each job taught me something new and each job steered me one step closer to figuring out what I love. My love of computers and technology and my love of being creative collided when I found Graphic Design and now at age 30 I have figured out what I want to be when I grow up and how that will adapt when I have a family.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
In my 20’s I lived in SIX different apartments / condos … yes SIX! Seems like a lot now that I look back {and I’m sure my brothers – who helped me move every single time will tell you it is a lot} but each apartment was decorated different, had a different room mate and was in a different area of Sarasota. Each hold different memories. Memories I would never give up.
{I used to host Monday Night Dinners in my little one bedroom apt – great times}
Now, at age 30 {well technically 26} I own a home – a sweet, cozy, beautiful home in a cute little neighborhood. I now know the pros and cons of renting and owning first hand.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
In my 20’s I dated – not a lot – but enough and I was single. I dated enough to know the difference between boys and men, to know what qualities are a must and which quirks I can deal with. I was single long enough to know that I can be happy alone and that I don’t need a partner to ensure my happiness.
I was also lucky enough to spend a good portion of my 20’s with the love of my life. To have grown with him, learned with him, and built a life with him. Now, at age 30 I have married him and look forward to spending the rest of my milestone birthdays with him.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
In my 20’s I have had many different friends – friends I grew up with, friends I partied with, friends I’ve lived with, friends with good intentions and friends with bad intentions. I’ve gone through the mean girls stage and chicks before d**ks stage.
I’ve been a bridesmaid, a maid of honor and a god mother – hosted many a bachelorette party, bridal shower and baby shower.
Now, at the age of 30 I have a core group of good girl friends that I wouldn’t trade for the world and have adopted Mike’s life long friends as my own.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
In my 20’s I have traveled – I owe this to Mike though, I never had the intentions of traveling as much as I have. I’ve always wanted to see different places but I never thought I would have seen as many places as I have so far. Mike’s job also allows us may trips – so all the places and experiences I’ve had are owed to him. {and a few to work travel of my own}
I’ve been to Michigan, Asheville-North Carolina, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Cabo San Lucas, Cozumel, Bahamas, Atlantic City, Canada, Dallas-Texas, Palm Springs, Key West, Portland-Maine, Chicago, New Orleans and much more
Now, at the age of 30 I’m getting ready to go to Italy!!! We have delayed our honeymoon a couple months and will be going to Florence, Rome, Venice and the Almafi Coast and I’m ecstatic!
So when people ask me how I feel about turning 30 – I tell them that I am happy with where I am in my life and I’m looking forward to what my 30’s have in store for me {maybe now I should direct them to this post}
